Jamie Mathew is a passionate advocate. She has been a commercial litigation attorney for over 15 years, and practices in Miami, Florida. Jamie focuses her practice on representing individuals, small businesses and financial professionals who have been wronged in business, and represents homeowners, businesses, and condominium and property associations that have suffered construction defects. Combining her graduate education in law and business, and representing both plaintiffs and defendants, her experience includes:
- Litigating business disputes and professional negligence cases;
- Litigating one of the largest divorce cases in U.S. history, involving the equitable division of publicly traded corporations, privately held businesses, investment accounts, retirement accounts, real estate assets, trusts, aircraft, livestock, and other substantial marital assets;
- First-chair trial attorney on a bench trial for a minister persecuted by militant groups in Pakistan;
- Second-chair trial attorney in a patent infringement jury trial in the Eastern District of Texas;
- Litigating violations of mediation confidentiality against bad actors who disclose confidential mediation communications in violation of Florida’s Mediation Confidentiality and Privilege Act, Florida Statute 44.401 et seq.;
- Litigating cases on behalf of condominium associations under Florida’s Condominium Act, Florida Statute . 718.101 et seq. and for construction defects; and
- Consulting on business agreements, transactions and corporate governance, such as supplier agreements, consulting agreements, service agreements, maritime contracts, terms and conditions, privacy policies, merchant agreements, software development agreements, licensing, operating agreements, bylaws, and start-ups
Jamie has represented clients in state and federal courts in complex commercial litigation matters, construction defect, property insurance, and family law matters, including contract disputes, fraud claims, breach of fiduciary duties, mediation confidentiality violation claims, construction defect claims, first party property claims, franchise litigation, mortgage and lien foreclosures, debt collections, maritime agreement disputes, tortious interference, defamation, accounting malpractice, condominium and homeowners’ association litigation, patent infringement, trademark infringement, medical device litigation, tort claims, high net worth divorce, and adoption. She has earned graduate degrees in both law and business.
In addition, Jamie was an attorney on Honorable Douglas S. Lang’s staff for the Fifth District Court of Appeals of Texas at Dallas.
